To launch the largest software release in Facebook’s history, we knew we wanted to feature people actually using the product. But how would we find all of this magic on a totally new part of the platform?
We created a backend tool that showed a real-time map of publicly broadcast Live content by simply hovering over nodes on a map. Once the best content was found, our team then reached out to the creators to be featured in the campaign (nearly every single person agreed to participate.)
We then took the tool we created and integrated it directly into the product itself, enabling people around the world to more easily search and discover Live videos, no matter where they were broadcast from.
